Rip Hopkins is a portrait photographer. With finesse and a healthy sense of humor, he paints a far from banal picture of society. It is the individual who makes his environment interesting, whether or not they are in harmony with it.

For his friend Marc Aurel, Rip Hopkins has accepted photographing street furniture, on an exceptional basis, a realm which he has never dealt with before. Still in the spirit that characterises him, he has created a form of fiction, staged with these objects. In this way he makes these pieces accessible and of fresh interest to the general public. They become the set for a film offering a different angle on these everyday objects we pay so little attention to.

Rip Hopkins breathes another life into Marc Aurel’s creations by sidestepping their status as street furniture.
