Chateaubriand (1768-1848) modeled his Châtenay "Val-du-loup" house as an allegory of his life and works. Amorique oaks, Libanese cedars, Greek plane trees, bald Louisiana cyprus trees are a reference to his travels from his birth place in Brittany to America and the Holy Land. Rip Hopkins (born in 1972) mixes documentary photography with art. He is particularly interested in the relationship that people have with their surroundings and their history. His photographic work refers to a time space where he sets up situations to put home an idea. In the Vallée-aux-Loups garden he evoques with humour Chateaubriand's romanticism.
