Muses d’Orsay is my response to a commission from the Musée d’Orsay asking me to photograph the museum’s employees in their place of work. With the Musée d’Orsay housing the national collection of 19th century works, I suggested that each employee take his or her own photograph with a rubber bulb snap like in the old days. Each person had ten takes, in other words a roll of film. It was up to each to choose when and how they would be photographed. So they became artists for the time it took them to photograph themselves and thus assume responsibility for their own image.

Favorite work of art: L’Inondation à Port-Marly by Alfred Sisley : « I am in charge of the Montherlant entrance, which is not the usual one for the public on the front square. It’s reserved for visitors who come to the museum to consult the archives or who go to the library, such as the students who attend the Louvre Art School. It is also the entrance for official visits and for people with appointments with the director or the curators. I have seen quite a few personalities from all over the world go by: Tom Cruise, Lady Di, Bill Clinton, Paul McCartney and heads of state. The list is too long for me to mention the whole thing. »
