Muses d’Orsay is my response to a commission from the Musée d’Orsay asking me to photograph the museum’s employees in their place of work. With the Musée d’Orsay housing the national collection of 19th century works, I suggested that each employee take his or her own photograph with a rubber bulb snap like in the old days. Each person had ten takes, in other words a roll of film. It was up to each to choose when and how they would be photographed. So they became artists for the time it took them to photograph themselves and thus assume responsibility for their own image.

Favorite work of art: L’Arlésienne by Vincent Van Gogh. « I always wanted to work in an art museum, but I thought it impossible since I hadn’t studied art history. My job mostly consists of making documentaries and promoting multimediacoverage related to the museum’s programming or collections and in coordinating their production. It takes several years to realize a project. Once a topic is selected, we enter the writing phase with the author and the pertinent curators. Then we have to find co-producers, funders and distributors. Then there is the shooting and the editing. I do my best to ensure that these films be co-produced with a TV station. That’s how we reach a wider public. They are also screened at festivals, placed at the disposal of cultural centers and loaned to other museums. I also produce audiovisual “things” archive-based image that figure in the exhibitions because the museum deals with the period when movies were invented. »
