This work in black and white and panoramic format takes us to a country that we rarely hear about. Contrary to most documentary photography approaches, Rip Hopkins' vision is humane and subtle, it is centred around a population that dispite all odds continues to survive. This books folds out to a length of 2,86 metres and won the 1997 Monography prize.
